How eBay's US selling fees work in 2026

eBay charges two main fees: an insertion fee when you list (the first 250 listings each month are free, then $0.35 in most categories) and a final value fee when the item sells. There's no separate payment-processing fee.

  1. Total amount of the sale. The final value fee is charged on the item price plus shipping and handling charged to the buyer, plus sales tax and any other fees the buyer pays.
  2. Final value fee %. In most categories it's 13.6% of the total up to $7,500 per item, plus 2.35% of any amount above $7,500.
  3. Per-order fee. $0.30 if the order total is $10.00 or less, or $0.40 if it's over $10.00. It isn't charged on athletic shoes of $150 or more.

Worked examples from eBay

A phone sells for $400 with free shipping and 6% sales tax, so the total is $424. The final value fee is 13.6% × $424 + $0.40 = $58.06. With a $0.35 insertion fee, total fees are $58.41. A $9,500 trading card plus 6% tax totals $10,070, so the fee is 13.25% × $7,500 + 2.35% × $2,570 + $0.40 = $1,054.55. Select the matching options above and the calculator gives the same figures.

FAQ

How much does eBay take from a sale in 2026?

In most US categories eBay takes 13.6% of the total amount of the sale (item, shipping and sales tax) up to $7,500, plus 2.35% above that, plus $0.40 per order (or $0.30 for orders of $10.00 or less). Listing is free for the first 250 listings each month.

Does eBay charge its fee on shipping and sales tax?

Yes. The final value fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale, including shipping and handling charged to the buyer and sales tax.

Does eBay charge a separate payment processing fee?

No. eBay's final value fee includes payment processing, so there's no separate third-party processing fee.

What is eBay's international fee?

1.65% of the total amount of the sale for US sellers, charged when the buyer's delivery or registered address is outside the US and you're not using eBay International Shipping.

What are eBay's fees for sneakers?

Men's and women's athletic shoes sold for $150 or more pay 8% with no per-order fee, and their insertion fee is free when the starting price is $150 or more. Below $150 the usual 13.6% plus the per-order fee applies.
