How the ecommerce profit calculator works

Your estimated profit per order is your selling price minus the costs you enter: product cost, shipping, percentage-based platform/payment fees, advertising cost and optional costs. The result is a planning estimate for unit economics — not an accounting statement.

Break-even ROAS

Break-even ROAS estimates the minimum return on ad spend required for revenue to cover the non-ad costs entered in the calculator. If your actual ROAS is below that threshold, your order economics may be losing money before overhead and taxes.

Maximum CPA

Maximum CPA is the estimated acquisition cost that would reduce profit on the order to zero. A business usually needs a lower CPA than this if it wants to retain a meaningful profit margin.

Important: This calculator uses the numbers you enter. It does not know your actual taxes, accounting treatment, attribution quality, marketplace rules or business overhead.

Important limitations

Taxes, chargebacks, subscription fees, staff, warehousing, currency conversion, discounts, attribution differences and changing marketplace fees may materially change actual profit. Use your own current figures and verify business-critical decisions with your accounting data.

Frequently asked questions

Plain-English answers to the metrics ecommerce sellers see most often.

What is break-even ROAS?

It is the approximate ROAS where the revenue attributed to advertising covers the non-ad costs you entered and leaves roughly zero profit on the order.

What is maximum CPA?

Maximum CPA is the estimated amount you could spend acquiring one order before that order reaches break-even based on the costs entered.

Why can a high ROAS still produce low profit?

ROAS only compares revenue with advertising spend. Product cost, shipping, payment fees, returns and other expenses can leave little profit even when ROAS looks strong.

Should I include shipping in product cost?

Either approach works as long as you do not count the same cost twice. If your supplier price already includes shipping to the customer, place the full amount in product cost and leave shipping at zero.

Does the currency selector convert exchange rates?

No. It changes how the numbers are displayed. Enter all values in the same currency.

Is this financial or tax advice?

No. It is an educational planning calculator. Use actual accounting data and qualified professional advice for tax, legal or material financial decisions.
